Frequently Asked Questions

  1. What are you looking for?
I’m looking for a role where I can make an impact by contributing to meaningful products and can grow as a designer.

  2. Do you have experience working remotely?
Yes, I have worked on onsite, hybrid, and fully remote teams. Each work environment taught me different collaboration skills. For example, working remotely requires the need for video calls, async communication, and clear documentation, while onsite roles involve more real-time communication. I’m comfortable adapting to either setup, or a combination of the two depending on what best supports the team with meeting project goals.

  3. Have you worked in an agency environment?
Yes, I have experience working for an agency where I helped manage products for 10+ clients across various industries like real estate, education, eCommerce, and others .

  4. What is your experience working in-house?
I’ve worked in-house at a large education company, a small startup, and on a team within a larger org. The scrappy startup environment required a lot of collaboration across different departments and moving quickly. Working on larger and more established teams provided the opportunity to make an impact by improving designs based on user research and identifying new products and features that align with user needs and business goals.

  5. Have you ever worked with colleagues in different time zones?
Yes, I am currently located in Central Time but have worked with colleagues across North America, Europe, Asia, and Australia. This required flexibility with meeting times, async communication, and proper documentation to ensure progress regardless of time zone.

  6. How do you manage working on teams across different time zones?
I make sure to keep track of overlapping working hours and use tools like Slack which displays the time zone when you click on someone’s profile. I also make sure to account for differences like holidays and daylight saving time.

  7. Do you have experience working on cross-functional teams?
Yes, I’ve worked with product managers, engineers, QA, and product marketing to make sure that design decisions were communicated clearly, technical constraints were flagged, and user needs were aligned with business goals. This helped to avoid scope creep and keep projects moving smoothly.

  8. Do you have experience working with Design Systems?
Yes, I have worked with, and helped develop a design system in Figma, including components and themes for light mode/dark mode. This helped with efficiency and consistency and improved dev handoff.

  9. What has been your experience with conducting user research?
I have led user interviews (in person and remote), conducted usability testing both in person and asynchronously using Maze, used surveys to gather qualitative and quantitative data, developed user personas, mapped user journeys, and facilitated workshops.

  10. What tools do you currently use?
Currently I use Jira, Confluence, Figma, FigJam, Figma Make, Contentsquare, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Loom, and Maze. I have also used InVision, Sketch, Adobe XD, Axure, Zeplin, ProtoPie, Asana, Miro, Trello, and other applications for design, research and project management. I think it’s important to be able to adapt. New tools and AI are reshaping our workflows so my focus is on learning quickly and using the tools that work best for the task or project.
