ABOUT ME
My name is Kenneth Hill, but I go by “Ken.” I am a UX Designer that is passionate about finding ways to make things more intuitive and user-friendly because of my previous roles in technical support. After graduating with a business degree in Management Information Systems, I began working in technical roles for call centers, an entertainment company, and even a hospital.
These jobs were fulfilling because they allowed me to help people (something that is important to me), but they also allowed me to solve mysteries in the form of technical problems. As a kid that grew up on Scooby Doo and Ghostwriter, I do love a good mystery. What was missing for me, however, was the ability to create and to be creative.
While helping users navigate and troubleshoot their devices, I began to pay closer attention both to pain points and also to support calls that could have been prevented through better design. After learning about user-centered design, I jumped into the topic and started consuming books, blogs, podcasts, design classes, and everything I could that was UX-related which eventually led to design opportunities. Aside from personal projects and freelance work, I have done design for a big educational company, an environmental non-profit, and a local startup. Now I get to solve “mysteries” at a level that allows me to help even more people, while also being creative.
As someone who considers themselves a lifelong learner and as someone always striving to better myself, I look forward to future design opportunities and chances to push myself to be a better design and a better person overall.
